Equipment Information:

Dear Junior Longhorn Parents:

For those of you that do not know me, my name is Rob Harper and I am going to be the new Junior Longhorn Equipment Manager. This letter should detail all that you need to know for the upcoming season. Equipment Handout will be Saturday July 31st using the following schedule.

PLEASE NOTE THE TIME CHANGES FROM THE ORIGINAL SCHEDULE.

8th grade – 9:00 am

7th grade – 10:00 am

6th grade – 11:00 am 

5th grade and under 12:00 pm.

 Please arrive dressed in shorts and t-shirt as there are items you will need to try on. The Junior Longhorns will supply the following: Helmet, Shoulder Pads, Practice Jersey, Game Pants, Game Jersey and Belt. You will be responsible to provide the following: Mouth Piece – You cannot play without one. We will have them available for $2 each. You will also be able to order upgraded mouthpieces. Protective cup – These are also a must for young men playing sports. Football Cleats – Get these as soon as possible. Supplies tend to run short as practice approaches. Your son should also wear these outside for a few days to break them in. Protective Pads (Hip, Tailbone, Knee and Thigh) – These are also a must. I recommend ones that can be belted in place or the type that goes into a separate girdle. We will have some 7 piece pad sets available to purchase at equipment pickup day. I do not recommend the girdles with the pads sewn in because the hip pad usually does not cover the point of the hip.

Practice Pants – We are no longer going to supply practice pants. I recommend that you purchase a pair of white football practice pants. We will have these available for order. Also, we will be liquidating all of our practice pants. They will be available 1 pair per player on an as available basis. There will be no charge for these pants. I do recommend that you order a pair so you have 2 pairs for practice. The following items will be available for purchase at equipment pickup day. Mouth Pieces - $2 7 piece pad sets - $10 a set. The following will be available to be ordered at prices that are generally cheaper than sporting goods stores prices, on equipment pickup day: Upgraded mouthpieces 3 pocket girdles 5 pocket girdles Practice pants Additional 7 piece pas sets if we run out of our supply.
